How to get there?

 

Only 20 kilometers from the southwest of Tataouine, meaning 24-minute drive, the berber village of Chenini is famous for its remarkable troglodyte villages with fantastic unique cave dwellings. Nestled between El Ferch, a fortified granary, and Djebel Demer, this magnificent destination is absolutely worth a visit. 

 

As it has a distinctive location, it can serve as a starting point for a marvelous itinerary that includes Ghomrassen, Guermessa and Douiret.

 

Renting a 4*4 car is highly recommended as it’s the best way to explore this part of Tunisia.

This heavenly place feels like a parallel world where you can camp in Berber tents or get a dinner in a very romantic atmosphere. This way you can fully enjoy this impressive and amazing landscape.

 

Sabria is located 37 kilometers from Douz, meaning a 40-minute drive. Needless to say,  a 4*4 car is highly recommended. We also recommend a small coffee break in the Ennasim café during your road.

 

Takrouna, an impregnable village

 

Think of the Tunisian Sahel and you probably think of Sousse or Monastir, which are amazing. But, between Zaghouane and Enfidha, Takrouna is nestled in a vast plain offering a breathtaking view on this extraordinary landscape.

 

While the Berber village is less inhabited than other villages, it has managed to preserve its small whitewashed houses, hanging on the Takrouna mount. This last one offers a fascinating and seizing sight on all the region at 200 meters of altitude.

Can you please spell Zriba Olia and try to pronounce it? Only by uttering its name, you feel like you’re taken back in time. Built between two rocky peaks, this fascinating destination infuses an inexplicable feeling of happiness. 

 

 

Once up there, the breathtaking panorama is a dream come true. While having a view of Jebel Zaghouan, the ancient village was founded around the Zaouia Sidi Abdelkader Jilani. 

 

Unlike Takrouna, Zriba Olia is almost abandoned by all its inhabitants. Distant from 24 minutes and 3 kilometers of hammam Zriba, you will inevitably pass by Ain Mdakker. This setting of peplum and spectacular landscape will provide you with several hiking trails and picnic areas.

The sublime beach of Malloula

 

Nobody can be immune of the spell in the Malloula beach. Set in a rocky setting, the paradisiacal landscapes entice you to reconnect with nature in a very different way. If you’re into water activities, this is a great place for a swim or, better, scuba diving.

At 23 minutes from Ghardimaou, the national park El Feija is an excellent destination for nature lovers. An essential detour to Kef Nekcha at an altitude of 64 meters. You can climb up the rock with the help of a staircase carved in stone, in order to reach the top. 

 

There, you will find yourself facing a magnificent, fascinating and breathtaking view. This spot is definitely one of the most wonderful landscapes you will encounter. However, this landscape is not recommended for people sensitive to vertigo.

A tour in Gafsa through the tunnels  

 

The tunnels of the railway of Gafsa were operated by the train "red lizard". Unfortunately, this train does not work anymore. But the route of the latter is still present.
