The town is just 20 kilometers away from the capital tunis and there are essentially 3 ways to get there :

By Public Transport

hop on a train from the TGM train station in Tunis where the ride is about 30 minutes for less than 0.5 dollars (1.5 TND), and you should also consider a 10-minute walk from the station to the town which is located at the top of the hill.

A bus is also available, but we recommend you ask locals at TGM about the updates of the departure time.

By Taxi

You can take a taxi drive which will cost you less than 5 dollars from Tunis to Sidi Bou Said, but you will have to find one available in the busy capital Tunis.

Important tip : If you choose this option, make sure that the driver turns the taxi meter on when you get in to avoid being overcharged.

 Taxi

You can look for a mobile app called Bolt to find you the nearest Taxi to come and get you there, but it will be more expensive (15 to 20 dollars) and the cost of the ride will be fixed and approved inside the app. So don’t get confused when the driver doesn’t turn the taxi meter on.

Best Time To Visit Sidi Bou Said

Sidi Bou Said shines year-round, and you can enjoy all the beauty and activities of the town, but the best time depends on your vibe.

Summer (July to August) is prime for water activities in the Mediterranean Sea. But it’s busier than other seasons since all travelers and locals go for a swim there, and it’s even busier in the nighttime.

Since it’s so hot in the middle of the day, we recommend that you do your tour in the evening time (around 16:00) and don’t forget to enjoy the sunset, which is the highlight of the place.

   Sidi-bou-said

Late spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) bring mild weather, and fewer crowds, which is ideal for artistic souls craving the village’s unique charm and calm inspiration.

It's also very hot at this time of the year in the middle of the day, so we recommend you go for your tour in the evening around 15:00 when the heat cools down.

In the winter (November to March) you can enjoy the calmness and the fact that the town isn’t busy with people all around. But the clouds will stop you from living the most magical experience, which is enjoying the magnificent views of the sun dipping into the sea from the top of the hill.
