Our adventure begins with an early departure from Algiers. We’ll sit back and enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling hills and green fields of the Atlas Mountains.

As the scenery changes, the lush green plains gradually fade, opening up to the vast, dry desert that stretches out before us.

➡️ Stop 1: Authentic Oasis Lunch

Upon arrival in Boussaada, we’re welcomed with a traditional Algerian lunch. Expect dishes made with local ingredients and seasoned with the warmth of Saharan hospitality.

➡️ Stop 2: Step Inside the Nasreddine Dinet Museum

Our afternoon begins at the Nasreddine Dinet Museum, housed in the former residence of the French painter who lived, converted to Islam, and died in Boussaada.

The museum reveals a rare, personal glimpse of Algeria through a foreigner’s experience and connection to the land.

We’ll take in his art and personal items, preserved for public viewing.

Next, we’ll explore the historic Zaouia of El Hamel, nestled against rocky hills just outside Boussaada.

Founded in the 19th century, this spiritual center was once led by the remarkable Lalla Zaynab.

You’ll have the chance to walk through the mosque, mausoleum, and Quranic school, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of this living Sufi heritage site.

Later, we’ll hop into 4x4 vehicles for an exhilarating ride across the golden plains surrounding Boussaada.

Though these aren’t the vast Sahara dunes, you’ll feel the thrill of open space and desert light.

As the sun sets, we’ll pause to enjoy refreshing mint tea and local sweets together under the expansive sky.

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll visit Al-Allig, a small village just outside Boussaada.

Here, you’ll wander peaceful streets lined with restored adobe homes and experience daily life as it has been lived for generations; simple, authentic, and deeply connected to the land.

➡️ Visit The Moulin Ferrero Water Mill

Next, we’ll explore the remains of the 19th-century Moulin Ferrero, a water-powered mill once vital to the community.

Though now in ruins, this scenic spot beside a seasonal waterfall tells a fascinating story of the region’s agricultural past.

➡️ Explore Artisan Market in Boussaada

Before we leave, you’ll have time to browse Boussaada’s artisan market in the old medina.

Here, local craftsmen showcase their skills with handwoven textiles, pottery, leather goods, and palm-fiber crafts.

It’s the perfect opportunity to find unique souvenirs and connect with the makers.

In the afternoon, we’ll begin our journey back to Algiers. You’ll carry home not just gifts, but vivid memories of desert landscapes, rich culture, and meaningful encounters.
