Bonjour, je suis Khadija

Hello! I am Khadija Bahzad, a passionate Emirati entrepreneur and the founder of “Meet The Locals.”

My mission is simple: to transform your visit to the UAE into a journey of genuine human connection. I believe that the true essence of a country is found in its people, its stories, and its traditions.

That's why I created a social tourism platform to bridge the gap between travelers and our rich Emirati culture.

My journey into tourism began with a realization: too many visitors were leaving the UAE without experiencing the warmth and depth of our local heritage. I wanted to change that.

"Meet The Locals" was born from a desire to create authentic interactions, moving beyond sightseeing to create moments of shared understanding.

Since starting in 2016, we’ve connected hundreds of visitors with the heart of the Emirates through cultural meals, artisan workshops, and personal tours led by certified Emirati guides. Our work was even recognized with the Best Tourism Start-up Award in 2017.

Great morning spent!

Great morning spent discovering the world of emirati perfumes. My preferred part? the workshop where we mixed our own Oud. Our local guides were as knowledgeable as friendly - replying to our questions beyond the actual perfumes. Highly recommended experience!

Pleasurable experience!

It was a pleasurable experience! We learned about each oil scent and how they are made and got the chance to smell them too, which made the perfume making process a lot easier. Making the bukhoor was fun too! We hope to make more of them again in the future.

A fun and relaxed morning in Dubai

The Dukhun and perfume-making workshop in Dubai was magical from start to finish. Everything was perfectly planned to allow us to fully relax and enjoy the experience. We were warmly welcomed by the Wildyness team and local Emirati guides in a traditional restaurant by the pond—a perfect setting for relaxed morning in Dubai. We were in a small group of people from different countries, which made it a really nice moment to connect. The local Emiratis shared a traditional breakfast and tea while telling stories about the food, their culture, and their personal preferences. The workshop itself was hands-on and completely unhurried, unlike many other tours I’ve done in the past. We took our time creating our own unique fragrance, and everyone walked away with the perfume and dukhun we created ourselves. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a genuine local experience—no mass tourism, very calm and intimate. It honestly felt like spending a morning with a group of friends.
