Your journey begins in Chenini, a village perched on a cliff, known for its troglodytic houses and the historic Mosque of the Seven Sleepers. As you leave Chenini, you'll follow a narrow, time-worn path that has connected these two villages for centuries.
The hike from Chenini to Douiret is moderately challenging, with a well-marked trail that meanders through the stunning desert landscape. As you walk, you'll pass through a region rich in olive groves, with ancient trees like the famous Zaytouna Akarit, which stands as a testament to the area's long history.
About halfway through your journey, you'll come across Ain El-Karma, a natural spring that provides a refreshing stop. This is the perfect spot to take a break, rehydrate, and enjoy the tranquillity of your surroundings.
As you continue your hike, the landscape begins to change, with the white mosque of Douiret gradually coming into view. The final stretch of the trail offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, making the effort of the hike well worth it.
Retrace your footsteps with your guide, reliving the landscape’s shifting light and rediscovering favorite vista spots along the way.
